Grouping Objects
Objects can be grouped and ungrouped in Edit mode. Doing so can ensure that objects you want to keep together are not accidentally repositioned relative to each other. It also lets you treat a set of objects as though it were one object, in the sense that you can select the entire group "object" with one click and then move it, resize it, or delete it.
A group has a very limited set of properties. If none of the objects within the group have their own snap points, the AnchorSnaps property will be present, allowing you to define snap points for the entire group as though it were one object. Snap points do not persist if the objects are later ungrouped. A group of objects also includes a Boolean property called Symbol. Always set its value to 0 (No), as the feature to which it relates has not been implemented.
To Group Objects
- Select all of the objects you want to group.
- Click the Group button
on the Layout toolbar or select Draw > *Group > *Group.
To Ungroup Objects
- Select the group of objects.
- Click the Ungroup button on the Layout toolbar, or select Draw > *Group > *Ungroup.
Regrouping Objects
A quick way to regroup the last set of objects that have been ungrouped is to use the Regroup command. This command is available after ungrouping, but only until the next Group operation is performed. A group that is regrouped will retain its original properties.
To Regroup a Set of Objects
- Before the next Group operation is performed.
- Click the Regroup button
on the Layout toolbar or select Draw > *Group > *Regroup.
